The Team
Staff are at the heart of our business. We strive to provide training, support and opportunities to progress within our business and advance in farming. There are prospects for experienced people and newcomers alike; opportunities for placement year students, seasonal-support staff needed during calving and busy times, as well as long term career opportunities. Training and personal development are key factors that keep our workforce happy. Contact us for more information on careers on all the farms.

In 2016 Helen Baker came to The Leen as a 2nd year placement student from Harper Adams University, where she was studying FdSc in Agriculture. Helen had previously worked on her home farm in the Peak District with Beef and Sheep. Following 14 months at The Leen Helen travelled to New Zealand; with her knowledge and new diary skills to work on a 700 cow, fully irrigated farm in the South Island where she worked for 6 months and then had the opportunity to travel around the country.
Helen was supported by the Norman Partnership who funded her trip to New Zealand. On her return to the UK Helen came back to The Leen in May 2019 initially for 3 months whilst she looked for further employment. Helen has progressed through the business to assistant herd manager and then on to become the dairy manager, she lives in a cottage provided on the farm.
Helen has had the opportunity to complete training and courses which have included the trailer driving test, telehandler course and RoMS course. Helen works alongside the nutritionist, consultant and vet and manages a team of 6 staff.
